Fox captures the Asian spirit as he weaves the story of the different experiences of Church people on the con tinent. His social location gives him that efforts of the Catholic Church to forge a new way of being Church: his Western eyes, his Vietnamese connection and his Asian odysey are his privileged hermeneutical references to read the Asian ecclesial clouds. These socio-cultural dynamics give him a greater sensitivity and awarness to what is evolving in Asia. His conclusion is an optimistic view: the Spirit is at work in Asia and is patiently working not only in the lives of Christians but also in multi-religious and cultural experiences of many Asians.
