Isi artikel
The incarnation is not only a celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas with carols and cribs, Christmas lights and feasting. Neither is it a celebration of the birth of Jesus as if it were merely the beginning of our redemption. The incarnation celebrates the union of the divine and the human in Jesus. Millions of years before Jesus entered history the Divine indwelling was already present in the universe so he did not enter a vacuum; he entered the Judaic tradition with its laws, covenant, prayers and traditions. Gradually, as he came to realize that he and the Divine Indwelling Spirit are one, he opened up a whole new understanding of human destiny. “We Uesus and the Divine Indwelling Spirit) will come to him/her and make our home with him/her” 14:23). This was an extraordinary breakthrough for the universe and for all of us. Because the Word has become a reality in our world, all of reality is touched by Christ’s presence. And the Word became incarnate, became human flesh when God chose to breathe in Jesus through Mary.
