Isi artikelThere are many heat exchanger types with different scale and capacities. One of them is double pipe heat exchanger which is suitable as learning media. The simplicity make the heat exchanger user easy to learn basic principles that are used on heat exchangers : flow types, over-all heat transfer coefficient and efficiency. This paper discusses the characteristics of water to water heat exchanger unit LKE-001 which is used in the practicum of Engine Performance at the Mechanical Engineering Department of Sanata Dharma University. The characteristics that are observed includes fluid flow types, over-all heat transfer coefficient, efficiency and fluid temperature. The gathered data shows that the water to water heat exchanger unit LKE-001 has a good performance. For temperature setting between 56 O C and 84 O C, it shows that the main parameters tend to be constant. For a particular temperature setting, the values of the main parameters show significant differences.
