Isi artikelThe increasing cost and scarcity of fuels has focused attention on the need for a transition to renewable energy sources. Solar energy can be used simply, and inexpensively to reduce the dependence on fuels. Solar water heater is the simplest and most cost-effective solar applications. The integral collector storage (ICS) system is the simplest type of solar water heater since it does not require pump and controllers. In the ICS system, the hot water storage is the collector. The aim of this research is to evaluate efficiency of an ICS system. The ICS system consists of two black tanks filled with water and placed in an insulated, glazed box. The reflectors in the box increase the solar radiation. Various operating conditions are considered to assess the efficiency of the ICS system. The corresponding highest efficiency is 0.58 and the highest water temperature is 56.5 O C.
