This paper presents a simulation study to investigation the most effective products mix to provide the optimal operating characteristics of an assembly line in a high volume production environment. Features of the product combination that directly effect performance measures such as workcentre utilization and line capacity are assessed. This work illustrates the potential of discrete event simulation as a management tool in an essembly environment.
