The quantities of cooling load and the condition of air in air conditioning system at a large building always change. In the air conditioning system using water chiller, the change of two main components influences the water chiller performance. This paper will discuss the characteristic of water chiller on the alteration of those main components using a cycle that is generally used in the air conditioning system at a large building - the steam compression cycle with intercooler and the standard steam compression cycle with refrigerant R 22. Both of them are assumed to run on ideal condition so it is expected to reach an optimum working area from each water chiller cycle. Then the control system design can be chosen on appropriate working area. Finally, it will be able to save electrical energy used in AC machines.
