The implementation of Medicare’s Prospective Payment System (PPS) methodology on the home health care nursing industry has begun to show a serious negative impact on home health nursing as well as segments of home care. The most recent cutbacks imposed by Medicare that initiated PPS in home health nursing agencies has also had an impact on the home infusion industry. Whereas Medicare payments for home infusion normally make up only a small segment of the home infusion companies’ revenues, they have created a large change and perhaps a very negative change on the home infusion industry.
