Isi artikel
Much has been discussed in the literature related to mentoring and its benefits for both the mentor and the “mentee” (also called the protégé). Because of the nursing shortage, many believe that mentoring is an activity that is more important than ever before. Some studies suggest that when a team member joins a new organization, the decision to stay occurs within the first months of the transition. This has implications as we seek to keep the competent staff we already have and any new staff recruited. Mentoring is one way to help the organization as well as the profession. In Gladwell’s small book, The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, examples are provided of how seemingly small changes produced big results. Mentoring can be the impetus for one of those big changes.
