Isi artikel
Accounting for a health care entity such as the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) breaks the mold when it comes to typical business practice. Besides just accounting, other business practices surrounding a home health agency are quite unique compared to other industries. Idiosyncrasies are not isolated to the accounting and billing departments; they spread among nursing, human resources, and administrative personnel. Adapting, managing, and sharing these idiosyncrasies through commiseration and laughter enable an entire VNA team to strengthen their collective bond. VNA controllers and the like learn some valuable lessons during their first couple years, and now, knowing the instability of VNAs across the country, they should enthusiastically be challenged to continue in the field of home health accounting. It is vital that clinicians and administration continue to work together so that VNAs can survive and succeed in the future.
