The Superbowl is one of sport’s biggest events. It determines the National Football League (NFL) champions. At the beginning of the 2002 Superbowl, the St. Louis Rams were introduced to the crowd individually, as had been the tradition in prior years. Players such as quarterback Kurt Warner, the NFL’s Most Valuable Player, and Marshall Faulk, probably the best all-around player in the league, got resounding applause from the crowd. Yet, when the New England Patriots’ turn came, they shattered tradition by asking to be introduced as a team. The message they sent was clear: We are not here as individuals, but as a team!
