Multicriteria decision making (MCDM) is concerned with the processes and techniques whereby multiple objectives are incorporated into the decision making process. The field of MCDM can be subdevided into multiobjetive decision making (MCDM) and multiattribute decision making (MADM). The field of MCDM has envolved rapidly over the last four decades. Early contribrutions to the field were made by Koopmans, Kuhn-Tucker and others in 1950s. The 1960s saw the introduction of goal programming by Chames and Cooper. The first international research conference devoted entirely to MCDM took place in 1972. The proceeding of numerous subsequent conference have appeared in the literature.
