Pain management is extremely important in all aspects of health care. Pain is one of the most prevalent symptoms. There is a wealth of research knowledge about the management of pain, and yet it remains one of the poorest managed symptoms. Misconceptions about what constitutes adequate treatment for pain and bias on the part of health care providers interfere with proper symptom management.
