Isi artikelCritical thinking is a significant aim of management education. This article reports on the evaluation of a personal development module that combined argument analysis, based on Toulmin’s theory of argumentation, with story telling. It focuses on how the module shaped and facilitated critical thinking. The findings show that the combination of argument analysis and story telling can promote many aspects of critical thinking, such as a critique of knowledge, a critique of authority, and so on, but that such an approach will not ‘naturally’ lead to the questioning of assumptions that typically concern Critical Theorists, such as gender, ecology, and race.
