Isi artikelOne of the most frequent problems of language teachers is how to transform the foreign language used in class from a school subject into a medium for authentic and motivating communication. This transformation means not only using the language for tasks that entail authentic communicative exchanges, but also as a tool for self - expression and creativitiy. When learners are able to use the foreign language in a creative and original way, they can construct their own meaning through the foreign language and they have become deeply involved in the process of communication and language production. This article reports on a creative writing project based on Mary Shelley's novel Frankesnstein. It involved a group of italian secondary school students using english for authentic communication.
