Insulators used on transmission lines exposed to the outdoor enviroment.These insulators could be contamined by adverse enviromental conditions.When the surface of a polluted high voltage insulator is wettted or moistened by dews or light rain, a leakage current flows through the surface.The heating effect of these current form dry regions and across these regions local discharges ignite due to increased electrical stress. The discharges sometimes grow and cause flashover interuppting the energy supply.The objective of the presents research are to understand contaminated insulator charateristics in some level both of voltage and pollution layer resistanc.From the current measurement in this research, it was found that contaminated insulators always suffered from higher leakage current than the cleans one and had breakdown voltage of insulator which contaminated ih higher pollution is lower than the cleans one.
