Isi artikelAs we go to press with this inaugural issue of AME, it is abundantly clear that the change at Bank of America described by Beck is anything but complete. Viewed from his perspective and direction as the head of human resources, Beck shows how the culture of B of A is changing. The primary levers for the change have been a management development program and the reward system. The management program has been conducted for all levels of management and used to teach not only some fundamentals of management but a different management style as well. A unique feature of the program has been to use managers to teach managers rather than using professional trainers in the teaching role. The reward system has been modified by overhauling their performance appraisal system and by carefully orchestrating a pay for performance process. Beck presents data to support his belief that genuine change has occurred.
