In addition to providing an overview of the presentations provided by the three senior executives - Beck of Bank of America, Barnes of Southwestern Bell, and Renier of Honeywell - Pfeffer points out that research on organizational change is quite consistent with the way change is being managed in the three corporations represented in the symposium. Moreover, the industries represented - banking, telecommunications, and computers - may be three of the best examples of rapid and turbulent change in large, complex organizations today.
