Isi artikel
This article provides a framework for integrating community into the analysis of work and family. It reviews existing research on two types of mesosystem connections among work, community and family: (i) direct relationships, in which characteristics of one or more microsystems are associated with characteristics of another microsystem; and (ii) the combined effects of two or more microsystems, that is, the work–family, work–community, community–family and work– community–family interfaces, on various outcomes. The article documents a base of research on which to build, reveals important gaps in our knowledge and provides suggestions for future work that can lead to an integration of community into work and family research.
