Isi artikelGenerally, industries in developing countries like Indonesia almost entirely use the production machines in which their components are using the import products from developed countries. In case one of the particular components is out of order it may cause dependency on the machine producers and it is unbeneficial for the machine users. To anticipate such problem, we can use tool steel as the alternative. It is used as the basic material in the production machine components. One of the tool steel types is H-13 which is used mostly for dies at manufacture industries. This research is focusing on micro structure, mechanical behaviour, and basic charateristics of H-13 type tool steel. The process to produce it is by casting it and continued kv the heat treatment process. The result shows that good hardness at its treatment is equal to 42 HRC till 45.63 HRC and has the best toughness through the temper III process which is equal to 310.9 N mm/mm3. The result of maximum tensile stress is obtained by temper II process in the tensile stress 1364.4 N/mm2.
