The present paper attempts to describe phatic expressions in Sundanese. The phatic expressions in this language can take the form of a word, a phrase, a clause, or a sentence. For example, in the word form, phatic expressions are represented by words form three types of category, namely the emphatic adverb (kecap panambah panganteb), the transitional adverb (kecap panambah pangateur), and interjection (kecap panyeluk).
