Isi artikel
Floods devastated North Carolina in September 1999. This article describes the experiences of public health educators who worked during that crisis. Information for this article was gathered from informal conversations, telephone interviews, and a 1-day workshop with health educators from eastern North Carolina counties most affected by the flood disaster. Findings are presented according to positive actions affecting health education practice during the flood and mandates for effective health education practice in crises. One recommendation was for health educators to more fully inform other disciplines of the abilities of their profession. Another recommendation was that emergency plans should specify roles for health educators.
