The Faculty of Medicine Atma Jaya Catholic University has implemented PBL since 2002. It had been a pilot project for nearly four years, in order to convince the faculty and the students of the new approach in learning medicine. Starting from August 2006, PBL has been implemented using the more developed methods, including the students' assessment and program evaluation. These ongoing students' assessment has been revised three times. This article will try to reveal the process of revision and discuss some crucial changes in students' assessment and program evaluation on PBL. Assessment methods should be aligned with the overall aims of PBL, and may include the development of skills and support the development of attitude competencies. The students will be assessed on each tutorial, based on the intended learning outcomes, its process, and on the knowledge they have been compiled and shared among others. It has been developed an attitude assessment sheet which may assess students on their behavior during PBL. The last type of assessment has been done by both tutor and peers in each group to maintain the objectivity. Program evaluation should record the comment and criticism from both students and tutors. Doing a good program evaluation needed a well-prepared evaluation items. By doing the PBL pilot project for almost jive years, the team had revised several items in the evaluation.
