Isi artikelThis article is divided into three sections. The first identifies common themes evident in many theoretical debates concerning media production and consumption. The next section considers the consequences of isolationism, where effective integration is not achieved. The final section suggests a way of reconceptualizing a key issue that threatens to widen divisions between production and consumption perspectives: what should be deemed ‘political’ and by extension what should be understood to constitute ‘political communication’.
