Isi artikel
As two ‘jobbing feminist academics’ we found reading ‘But the Empress Has No Clothes!’ (Stanley and Wise, 2000) a confirming experience in that much of what is outlined is very familiar to us and the concerns that Stanley and Wise highlight are ones that we share. We too are interested and anxious about the form (and the function) that theory takes in feminism and here we are particularly interested in contributing to the debate in relation to two specific areas: first, the relationship between feminist Theory, social theory and feminism and, second, the relationship between feminist Theorists and feminists. We present our discussion towards these two areas and in so doing aim to answer some of the ‘awkward questions’ that Stanley and Wise ask.
