A new frequency of earthquake occurrence map for magnitudes of Ms 24; 2 5; 26; 27 and 28 had been developed for the Indonesian region by collecting data from the year of 1900 to 2000. The earthquake areas which were used in preparing the frequency map were divided into 1138 square sources, in. which each source the Gutenberg-Richter al, b values were calculated. Based on these al, b values at 1138 sources, the number of earthquake occurrences forMs? 4; 2 5 ; 2 6 ; 2 7, 2 8 at each center of the 1138 earthquake source areas were back calculated by using the weighted average procedures. Then contours of earthquake occurrences were drawn by using Surfer and Autocad programs for magnitudes Ms 24; 2 5; 26; 27 and 28. These frequency maps and the a] , b values were very useful in earthquake studies in indonesia.
