The role of ru minative cop ing and gen der as po ten tial mod er a tors of cul tural dif ferences in sui cide ideation among 194 col lege stu - dents from Ghana and the United States were stud ied. Par ticipants com pleted the Adult Sui cidal Ideation Ques tionnaire and the Ru - mination scale of the Re sponse Style Ques tionnaire. Sig nificant main ef fects for cul tural group and gen der were found for sui cide ideation. Fur ther more, gen der and ru mination to gether ac counted for sig nificant por tions of the vari ance in sui cide ideation scores. Im pli ca tions for fu ture re search are dis cussed.
