Isi artikel
Monthly mean of wind vector and geopotential height at 850 hPa over the equatorial Pacific revealed that during La Nina 1996 starting from March easterly wind region around Central Pacific strenghtened then expanded westward and the low geopotential wind region shifted westward while during El Nino 1997 starting from March easterly wind region weakened, westerly wind region pene¬trated to the east near the dateline and the low geopotential height region was concentrated in the east of the dateline then expanded eastward. These observational facts could be ascosiated with the circle argumentation of air-sea interaction. During the El Nino years, sea surface temperature in the central and eastern Pacific increase as a result of eastward advection induced by westerly wind and vice versa.
