The aim of this experiment is to develop method for analysis of Selenium using UV spectro¬photometric with Potassium Buthyl Xanthate (KBX) as reagent Se react with KBX to form Selenium Buthyl Xanthate (SeBX) complex which dissolve in Carbon Tetra Chloride. The result of experiment show that the complex of SeBX gives maximum absorbance in 295 nm with molar absorpsivity 9.67 x 104 L.mol* Cm’ Detemination of Se using this method need the optimum condition: pH of reaction is 4.0, time of reaction is 60 minutes and extraction of SeBX in to CCI4 must be carry out in three times and each extraction need 15 minutes. And the recovery of Se determined using the method is (99.58 ± 0.89)%.
