Isi artikelSimulating Chaos in Liquid Gallium Heated from Below: Gallium is a metal which have melting point in room temperature, thus liquid gallium is suitable for representing liquid metal visualization. The aim of this research is to investigate the occurrence of steady-chaos in liquid gallium in a container heated from below by using the Rayleigh-Benard convention model from David Neckles. This research was conducted by using a numerical simulation method through varying the Rayleigh number (R) and the width of the container indicator (L) employed to discover whether or not chaos occurred from the attractor and the Lyapunon Exponent Equivalent values (LEE). Two fmdmgs were obtained from this experiment, the first that steady-chaos started to occur in a container of 1.3 unit lengths, and not 1.4142 as predicted by prior analytical calculations. In this width steady-chaos had aRayleigh number range of2.75 x 106 to 3.45 x 106. and at Rayleigh numbers lower than 2.75 x 106, unsteady chaos resulted. Whereas, at Rayleigh numbers higher than 3.45 x 106 the system indicated by the Lyapunon Exponent Equivalent was of an unbounded nature. The second fmding was that if L and R varied widely then 3 important regions were formed, namely steady-chaos, unsteady-chaos and that of the unbounded-attractor.
