The Designing And Employment Of A Disturbance Observer To Arrange Contours In Freis Machine Simulators : Output of a milling machine is determined by its ability to form a desired contour accurately. In order to do this, a control system is needed to make the axis motion of the milling machine result in contours as close as possible in size to those of the reference contours. A widely used conventional control structure is a decoupled-control. In this structure, each axis is controlled independently without coordination. In this research, a controller in the form of Disturbance Observer (DOB) combined with a Proportional Derivative (PD) controller were designed and implemented for a milling-machine simulator. The implementation using DOB indicated that the simulator was able to form the desired contours, and that the addition of the PD controller decreased IAE error significantly.
