Risks management is relatively a new discipline which tries to handle risk exposure faced by organizations, however in order to understand comprehensively the discipline, we firstly needs to understand its basic ideas and concepts. Harold I Brown asserts that concepts are important to the meaning of any theory, and since the basis of any discipline is aset o ftheories, therefore concepts are very improtant to any discipline. In order to get into the right ideas and concepts of risk, it is advisable that risk manager devotes his attention to examine fundamental concepts and ideas, furthermore devotes to understand how both of them unite to form the concept, risk and risk management. This paper describes brief history of ideas and concepts to help in recounting from where some fundamental ideas emerged and in avoiding misunderstandings of the concepts.
