The effect of Ganoderma lucidum in perforin expression of mononuclear cells and the histological grading in C3H mice mammary adenocarcinoma Background: It is estimated that in Indonesia, mammary cancer stays at the second highest position after cancer of cervix uteri. Previous studies have demonstrated that Ganoderma lucidum (GL) could detain the growth of lung cancer, has cytotoxic effect on chronic mononuclear leukemia cells as well as antigenotoxical property. In an in-vitro study, it was reported that the anti tumor effect of GL might be useful for cancer chemoprevention. Methods: The presents study was designed as "Post test only control group design". 24 mice were devided intro three groups: group I(pretreated with GL before cancer cells inoculation), group /I (GL treatment was given after the cancer has developed). The remaining mice were used for control (without GL treatment). The mice were killed to examine the histological grading of the cancer, mononuclear cell infiltration and perforin expression Results: The highest number of monuclear cells (MNC) infiltration surrounding mammary cancer tissue was found in group " followed by group /I and control (p=0,3). There was no significant differences between group I and control (p=o,2) and also between group /I and control (p=o, 9). The score of the mononuclearperforin expression surrounding adenocarsinoma tissue among group " group /I, and control was significantly different (p=O,OOB). The perf orin expression score between group I and control as well as between group /I and control were also significant (p=O,OOB). The score of mammary adenocarsinoma histological degree were: 6,6(0,3) in control; 5,2(0,6) in group /I, and 4,5(0,3) in group ,.
