These post humously published selections of writings and speeches of Lilian Weber came about soon after her life was cut short age 77 by complications resulting from an automobile accident. Before her fatal accident weber had begun the process of sifting through her writings and the multiplicity of talks and notes she has made through the years with the idea of publishing a compilation that would summariZe her previous work and include after thoughts that would summarize her previous work and include afterthoughts that would both mark her lehacy and serve as a guide to those who would follow. Instead of the more comprehensove collection of papers and summations that was surely envosaged by weber, we have a slimmer selection assembled by her long time colleague beth alberty, who had been assisteng weber in collating and revising her previous work. Perhaps the greatest loss was the commentaries and reexaminations that weber had planned to write to accompany her articles. Fortunately, albert was privy to weber's original plans for the both and has followed them wherever possible. Moreiver, weber had already begun a reassestment of some of the issues that were dealt with in previous years, and this new material is included. In her role as editor, alberty has provided some useful background material and clarification that precedes each of the book's sections .....
