Isi artikelInterest in empirical enalyses linking education levels and political knowledge to citizenship has had a recent and rather sudden surge. These two books addressing these issues have several things in common. Both report extensive analyses of durvey data collected from samples of the american adult population. Their authors who are poliyical scientist, focus on similar research questions. Nie, Junn and stehlik barry want to understand why the number of years of education completed continues to be one of the strongest links to political knowledge and political tolerance, Delli carpini and keeter focus upon the dimensionality, stability over time, explanations, consequences, and relationships of political knowledge. Both books have short sections describing comparisons with adults in other countries. The two volume lead the reader through a set of predictions and analyses to address them.
