In 1985, John I Goodlad Riger Soder and Kenneth A. Sirotnik created the center of educational renewal at the university of washington and commended the five year study of the education of educators. Stemming from that study, this collection of 19 essay addresses the nature of the teaching vocation and especially the moral dimensions of teaching viewed as an actual or possible profession. The author accurately observe that these moral dimensions were relatively neglected in the various reports on school reform issued during the 1980 s by agencies such as the national commisison on excellence in education the national's governors' association.The carnegie forum on education and the economic, Carnegie task force on teaching as a profession, the holmes group, and the national board for profesional teaching standard .....
