The scientific study of adolescence has increased dramatically in recent years, making a special issue entitled "Development and Education across Adolescence" most timely. Research has demonstrated that important changes occur in adolescence, with the direction of change usually influenced by the social context interacting with individual characteristics. The articles in this special issue review recent findings and present new advances on the topics related to education in adolescence. The issue concludes with a discussion of topics needing attention in future research.
