Pregnancy in an early age has a highly risk maternal and infant morbidity and mortality rate. Pregnancy in an early age has a risk twice to four times higher than the 20-30 years old pregnant women. Economic and social development, including the increasing acces to job opportunity and education lead to the decresing tendency of getting married and getting pregnant earlier. Unfortunately there is still a lot of pregnancy in an early age, especially in rural areas. The aim of the research was to prove the influence o.fmarital age, education, knowledge, occupation, contraception use, husband support, and prenancy information source to the decision of the rural woman to get pregnant in an early age. This was a cross-sectional research, the sample were married women and pregnant woman or women who have under five years old baby and lived in Desa Candi, Totokan, Mlarak, and Ngrukem Kecamatan Mlarak Kabupaten Ponorogo. There were 97 sample which were taken by using simple random sampling pattern. The data were collected with interview by using questiounaire and analyzed by using Multiple Regresion Analysis with ex = 0.05. This research showed that respondent characteristics were 77.3% mid level education (length of study 9-12 years), 64.79% as housewives, 59.79% have a good knowledge about pregnancy, 97.94% respondent did not use contraseptions before having the first child, 62.07% obtioned pregnancy information from medical source, and 57. 73% had husband who urged to have a child soon after married. Multiple Regresion Analysis showed that marital age (p = 0.000), husband support (p = 0.027) and occupation (p = 0.010) had influence on the decision of rural women to become pregnant in early age. The other variables such as education (p = 0.467), knowledge (p = 0,413), contraseption use (p = 1.000) and pregnancy information source (p = 0.999) were found not to have the influence. Base on those result, it is expected that the government and related intitutions, improve rural womwn knowledge about the risk of young age pregnancy and the advantages of prenancy in healthy reproductive age. The improvement should be directed continuously to village using methods and media which are effective for that community.
