Batam as industrial and tourism area have the potency in HIV/AIDS spreading. The objective of this research is to assess of HI V sentinel surveillance system in Batam based on system surveillance attribute. System surveilans attribute are simplicity, flexibility, acceptability, sensitivity, predictive value positive, representativeness, and timeliness. This research represent the evaluation study. Data collecting conducted by in-depth interview to HIV surveillance staff of Batam Municipal Health Office and study the document used at HIV sentinel surveillance system. Result of this research indicate that the Batam HIV sentinel surveillance system fulfill the attribute of surveilans epidemiology covering simplicity, flexibility, acceptability, and predictive value positive. Beside that assessment to attribute of surveilans of epidemiology showed that Batam HIV sentinel surveillance system less sensitive, less representative, and not on schedule. Staff addition, dissemination of information and media utilization suggested to increase HIV sentinel surveillance system in the effort to decrease HIV.
